University of Bradford

 

Located in one of the largest cities of United Kingdom, University of Bradford offers to its students not only wide range of courses but also the modern facilities of a cosmopolitan city and the warmth and beauty of the countryside. It was presented with the Royal Charter only in 1966, but the origins can be traced back to 1860s. There are 140 Undergraduate courses and 80 courses at the postgraduate level. The University of Bradford boasts of accommodating some 13,070 students, of which 8935 students are enrolled in Undergraduate courses while 4135 students are under the Postgraduate courses. The University has three sites in Bradford, including the main city campus at the Richmond Road. There are seven academic schools or faculties in the University of Bradford. These include the following Schools: Engineering, Design and Technology
Health Studies
Informatics
Life Sciences (including Archaeological, Geographical and Environmental Sciences)
Management
Social and International Studies
School of Lifelong Education and Development, also offering Part-time courses.

Some of the new courses that have been recently introduces in the course curricular are Peace Studies, Electronic Imaging and Media Communications, Pharmaceutical Management, Chemical and Forensic Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Cybernetics, Medical Engineering, Psychology and Law. There is a good proportion of students from outside UK, amounting to some 22% of the total strength. While the International Information Office, which has recently moved to the main campus, takes care of all queries related to travel, accommodation, funding and coursework, among others, there are pre-session programs for students in English language in the summers. International students can also visit the University under the International Visiting Students Program, English plus Peace Studies Programs and many European Exchange Programs.

University of Bradford has an extensive e-learning facilities, as a support to postgraduate and research students, known as the MetaLib. Students can download a wide range of electronic journals and papers from the Internet, do a cross-search across chosen subject areas and provides access to other web resources. A great help for students especially interested in research.
