Kennesaw State University is the third largset university in the university system of Georgia, one of the major metropolitan of Atlanta's burgeoning northwest suburban communities. It is a comprehensive university with an expanding undergraduate and graduate programs. Located in Cobb county on a beautiful landscape the university was founded in 1963. The university has a pedestrian-friendly campus that covers an area of about 240 acres and is within the easy access of Interstate 75. In the last decade, the state of Kennesaw has seen tremendoud development in its facilities and now boasts more than one million square feet of space for administration, instruction and student support facilities. Some of the recent facilities that have been added to Kennesaw State University is the 160,000 square feet social science building. This is the largest building in the campus of the university. The convocation-center has the capability to seat 4,800 people and is the largest venue of its kind in northwest Georgia.
There are more than 1,700 students those who pursue their undergraduate and graduate studies in the Kennesaw state. The Kennesaw State University has a mixed population that consists of about 20,000 of commuters or suburban students and residential students. The student body is a mix of traditional and nontraditional students with an average age of about 26 years. Approximately 20 per cent of students are members of ethnic minorities. The university has more than 60 bachelor's and master's degree programs to offer its students. The university also grant undergraduate degree in education, health, business, humanities, arts, science and maths. The Kennesaw State University also grant graduate program in professional concentrations including nursing, business, information systems, conflict management, education and professional writing. The university has continued to expand its program by granting a Doctorate of Education in Leadership for Learning in 2006.
