Kent State University

Kent State University (KSU) offers distance learning programs in areas like business administration, library media, public administration, and also in Nursing Education. Bachelor’s, Master’s and Certificate degrees are offered by the university. Some of the courses may require the students to be present on the campus.

Degree programs at KSU

1. Business Administration 

This distance learning program is offered at Lorain Community College and in Kent State Stark Campus (North Canton). This KSU program is carried through video conferencing. It takes place in Kent campus but students in Stark counties, Lorain counties, western Cuyahoga, and adjoining areas may attend the lectures in the above mentioned places. The Association of Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) has accredited the program. The eligibility criteria require the students to have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized accredited college along with above average score in GMAT. The students must also furnish a resume, letters of recommendations and statement of goals. 

2.  Master's of Technology 

The program offered is 50%-100% online. The minimum GPA requirement at undergraduate level is 2.75. The course prepares the students to learn the latest inclusion in the field of technology. Some of the courses offered under this program require one to be present in the campus for video conferencing.

3. SLIS 12-12-12 

It is a graduate level program offered through online medium. It is mainly done through interactive video in around 3-4 external locations of the university. This program is accredited by American Library Association. The minimum eligibility criteria are 3.0 GPA in undergraduate or any other Master’s Degree.  The program is ideal for those who want to pursue an MLIS in Ohio. 

4. Library Media 

The programs offered are of three categories. The minimum GPA requirement is 3.0. The first program is Initial Licensure Program; the second is Master Degree in Library/Media; and the third one is Licensure program. Students under the first category become a library media specialist. Later, on completion of Master’s of Education Degree the students may work as Library/Media Specialist in any K-12 School.  The program is 75% online. The second program is 75% online like the previous program. It is for students who want to work as school library/media specialist. The course helps them to get the required license. The licensure program assists a student in getting the license of school library/media specialist. The student must have a Masters’ in Education along with valid teaching license.  This program is completely online. 

5. Instructional Technology 

This US online university Master Degree program is a 100% online. The program teaches the students regarding the application of various technologies in instruction. The course curriculum enables a student to coordinate technology in government, hospital and businesses in order to organize corporate training, and other related activities. The course curriculum is exchanged through the medium of internet. The minimum requirement for this program is GPA of 3.0.

6. Master of Music in Music Education

The programs help the participants to prepare themselves in order to teach music at higher level. This is ideal for music teachers who want to broaden their career in the field of music. It is an online program designed to meet the requirements of the working professionals. 

7. Public Administration 

This Master degree is divided into core course; internship and capstone course and elective specialization of three courses. The course curriculum prepares the students to address the issues of administration in an effective manner. The program is mainly an online program depending on the online availability of the three elective specializations. On completion of the program one may get job opportunities in the non-profit or public sector. The eligibility criteria are a minimum of 2.75 GPA and a Bachelor’s degree. 

8. Master of Science in Knowledge Management 

The minimum undergraduate GPA requirement for this KSU online program is 3.0 and the program is completely online. The students must also provide three recommendation letters; resume; statement of purpose; Bachelor’s Degree; and also experience in knowledge domain. The course curriculum assists the students in mastering the strategic approach in identification, collection and sharing of assets like business intelligence, intellectual capital and also employee expertise. 

9. Journalism Educator Specialization within the Reporting and Editing Concentration 

Master of Arts in Journalism Educator Specialization within the Reporting and Editing Concentration is a program that imparts the requisite knowledge among the students to take on the role of educators. It is a great program for those who want to become teachers in future. The program is online and covers the relevant areas that need to be addressed during teaching sessions.

Online Certificate Programs at KSU

1. Transition Specialist Endorsement Online Certificate Program

The requirement of the program is a minimum of 2.8 GPA.  One must have a license of Intervention Specialist or must attain it before the commencement of the program. The program enables the students to acquire the Master endorsement for the license of teaching. The course is 70% online. 

2. Autism Spectrum Intervention Specialist Certificate

The program is ideal for those who want to make a career as an intervention specialist of Autism. The course curriculum is designed to help students with expertise in areas like occupational therapy, general education, school psychology and special education. The course also has a specialized training to impart the requisite skills to address the subject of autism. The program is completely online.

3. Post Masters Nursing Education Online Certificate Program

The course is designed not only to increase the knowledge but also create better job opportunities. On completion of the program the students would be able to take up nursing education at higher level. The program is open for those holding a Master’s Degree in nursing. The course is not completely online.

4. Career Based Intervention Program

The program of Kent State University offers teaching license/certificate. The course is 75% online and 25% on-campus. During the on-campus schedule the students are required to attend a week long workshop on the subject. The instructor of the program coordinates the theoretical study with job experience. 

5. Undergraduate Certificate in Public Health

The program helps students take higher responsibilities in the public health sector. The course curriculum is prepared to impart the requisite knowledge in monitoring health; preventing diseases in organizations, society and communities. The total credit hours of this program are 18.

6. Graduate Online Certificate Program in Knowledge Management

The program helps the students who want to increase the employment opportunities in knowledge management through enhancing of the existing skills. In present scenario the demand for candidates holding expertise in knowledge management is high. It is an online program. The requirements of the program are resume; bachelor’s degree with relevant experience; minimum of 3.0 GPA; and three recommendation letters along with a statement of purpose.
