Louisiana State University or LSU is also known as Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical college. This is a public, coeducational university located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Louisiana State University system is the main campus of the university. In addition to specialized centers, divisions, institutes and offices the university has nine senior colleges and three schools. The enrollment of the students has been increased by 5 per cent to accommodate students from New Orleans that have been displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Presently, there are 32,000 students in Louisiana State University with 1,300 full-time faculty. It is one of the only twenty-one American universities that has been designated as a land-grant, sea-grant and space-grant research center.
In order to overcome decades of underfunding, the university has recently launched the Forever LSU campaign. This is the most ambitious fund.

The campus boasts on more than 250 principal buildings. Many of these buildings are built in the design of Italian Renaissance. Most of these buldings are built between 1925 and 1940. The live oak trres in the campus have valued $36 million.
The main library of Louisiana State University has almost three million books and is located in Troy H. Middleton Library on the main quandrangle of the university. It is both a general use library and a US Regional Depository Library. The special Collection division is housed in Hill Memorial Library.
