Minnesota State University is located approximately 85 miles southwest of Minneapolis. The university campus covers an area of about 303 acres of land overlooking the Minnesota river valley. Founded in 1868, the university has more than 105,000 alumini scattered all over the world. Presently, there are approximately 14,000 students in the university. More than 500 students from about 62 different nations attend this university with over 1,700 faculties and staffs. There are 600 full time instructional faculties and 77 per cent with terminal degrees. The six major academic colleges that are affiliated to Minnesota State University are:

The Minnesota State University conducts more than 160 undergraduate program, 16 professional programs and 80 graduate programs. The university has devoted $8.4 million in renovation of the student's recreation and fitness center. The center was completed in 2005.
The health center of the university has the only ?TechRec? facility and there are 40 aerobic machines. The university is remodelling the Trafton Science Center that costs around $52 million. The privately-funded $3.6 million Andreas Theatre of the university was completed in 2000. The 25,000square-feet Technology Center, Casual Computing Lab and Global Learning Lab in Memorial Library of the university is under construction. The library of the Minnesota State University houses about 1.2 million items and provides electronic access to more than 190 databases and online collections.
