Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced Programme
to enhance the knowledge of those engaged in teaching distance learners. IGNOU has started a programme called the Academic Counselor’s Training-Online popularly known as (ACT-Online).
ACT-Online is an online capacity development programme for teachers. The programme will cover topics number of topics such as evaluation of assignments, development of study skills and usage of new technologies for student support.
University Vice Chancellor Prof. V.N. Rajasekharan Pilla said, “It is one of the capacity development programmes of the Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE) of the University and is getting a very good response from the existing and prospective academic counselors.” Further speaking on the topic he added,"Development in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has contributed to tremendous growth in ODL worldwide. Training and continuing professional development of ODL functionaries are necessary for success of this system.”
Benefits of the Programme
Once the training program is completed, the participants will help the students come up with various skills, it will organize support for various disadvantaged and physically-challenged students. It will cover various importance topics like development, tutoring,student support.
